TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO -
HE IS THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE
KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER.

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona) who created the "tent city jail":

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel.

When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.

i don't think its inhumane at all. I'm tried of inmates or soon to be inmates saying how bad off jail is. simple solution be a contributing law abiding ciziten of the us and well you won't have to go. i know where i live they can get there high school diplomas/ged's and even get a college degree on my dime? why? i had to get a loan and have to pay for my own college and i didn't do anything wrong? jail should be hard so then people won't want to go back-its not supposed to be a vacation. its a punishment. why should jails even have cable? i don't know how you feel about this issue-but good for him! we really need to look at the jail system and make some changes.

When someone goes to jail they loose all but their basic rights. Why should we be worried about an inmate being comfortable or entertained? Remember, they have the option not to go to jail in the first place. Maybe people will think twice about going there if they live near there. It could also be a deterrent to crime.

there is range of reviews even contained in the LGBT community. operating example, i'm a guy who crossdresses and is heterosexual. I oftentimes bypass to a LGBT pleasant bar or nightclub when I gown up because they're a a lot more desirable secure position than a on a daily basis one. I actual have nevertheless met a large number of gays and lesbians who're very adverse in route of a guy who crossdresses, particularly considering i'm purely into women human beings. Prejudices and stereotypes do not quit to exist because you're of a special sexual orientation or gender expression from the mainstream. Even I nevertheless have my predjucies. I actual have an particularly confusing time with overly flamboyant transsexuals and drag queens because their obnoxious moves make human beings stereotype me right into a similar lot as them. the biggest component is to offer up, take a breather, and comprehend that we are all nevertheless human and to attempt to comprehend one yet another. we do not ought to agree, yet a minimum of we are able to attempt to comprehend and tolerate.

They have a roof over their heads and know where their next meal is coming from. I'd say they are doing better than quite a few people who haven't messed up bad enough to land in jail. If it's that horrible maybe it will make them think twice about doing anything that will send them back.

If it works it works. The whole thing about prison is for the inmate to lose a range of personal freedoms while being confined for their crimes. As long as physical torture is not a factor, I say why not.

Prisoners are not in jail to be coddled, they are in jail to be punished. I totally agree that they shouldn't be treated inhumanely, but not allowing them access to weight rooms, porn, and R-rated movies hardly seems inhumane. Are they enjoying the same priviledges they would outside jail? No. Should they? Absolutely not.
