if you call a lawyer up for a free consulation. will be honest with you and tell you if he thinks you would have a case or not?

Well, he should. Many lawyers are now charging consultation fees due to the many frivolous lawsuits people want to pursue and cannot be won. The only attorneys that give free consultations where I live is the ambulance chasers that get 33% of anything you win.

Yes, absolutely. Why would a lawyer waste time on a case he thought he couldn't win for you?

I had a need for a lawyer once and had to get turned away by five of them before the sixth one said he could help me. He did - saved me a ton of money doing it, too.

Oh yeah, one more thing - a lawyer who would knowingly mislead you on your question would be at extreme risk for disbarment.
