Ok, bought two paradise fish and put them in my tank. The male decided to start attacking the other fish, so i took them out and gave the pair a tank of their own. In the big tank the male was very forward but in their own he stays under the filter all the time. They have started acting really timid and just sit under the filter if anyone is in the room. Is this normal fish behaviour?

They are otherwise healthy fish who seem to be eating and everything tho.

They are very graceful fish. They will not look as active compared to Goldfish and guppies for example. They are great fish and two males will be territorial. A female will have a nice rounded belly. Give it a place to hide if you add a female.

You don't mention the size of your tanks, but if the male was trying to establish his territory in the first tank, then they are not timid, when fish are kept in a smaller than required tank their territorial behavior is often mistaken for aggression.
As to the behavior in the second tank,is it cycled? When Anabantids cower it's usually a sign of a water quality problem.

Get another female and see if that helps.
