but still would like to get her something for Christmas. They both are very religious and conservative so I don't want to get her anything she may be offended by, does anyone have any ideas?

She is younger, I am 25 and she will be 21 this year. I have never spoken to her and really don't know much about her at all (which is kinda sad I think). The only reason I know she is religious is because they go to a very conservative Christian college. Yes, this will be her first visit to our home.

Get her a gift card to a favorite store. If that is too impersonal, then get her a small necklace. You can even get her one with the college mascot or logo on it.
You did not state in your question what kind of relationship you have with her: Is she older, younger, have you talked to her often? Is this the first time for her to come and visit? How serious is it?
Since it is their first year, you could get by with buying nothing and still be proper etitiquite.

My brother is getting married at Christmas and has been with his fiancee for almost three years. I've been living outside the country and just met her for the first time this week! So I understand the situation. I haven't bought her anything for Christmas before but this year I think I'll do a joint gift for her and my brother.
What about getting her a gift card? She might like something for a book store or music store. Or, ask your brother if there's something specific she'd like, or maybe something she's really interested in. I love art, specifically African art, so anything like that is great for me. If there's a certain topic or hobby she's interested in, that might be the way to go.

You don't have to buy her anything, but it is always nicer if everyone in a gathering has presents and in your place I would buy one for her. A scarf is good if you have some idea of her colouring, failing that, a nice pen,she is at collage after all..or something really old-fashioned.. a writing paper and envelopes set, you would be surprised how many people appreciate old-fashioned gifts an this is one you can purchase at a stationers such as W.H.Smith or at some Christian shop if there is one in your area. Don't spend too much, don't over personalise..just make her feel welcome and considered.

I was in a similar situation when I met my husbands family for the first time - my future sister-in-law bought me a scarf. It was a great present, generic yet more personal than a gift card.

do something homemade . . . it'll show that you cared about her before you even met her and that will mean a lot. you could make candles, soap, a knitted scarf, a really nice scrapbook with a couple of pictures of your brother that she can add to, or anything else that you might be able to do.
