What this kid needed wasn't home schooling. What he really needed was to be taken away from his parents and put into a foster home so he could be with normal people

I don't think it's the home schooling that led this boy astray- obviously his mother was a total loser and should have been spayed .

But we do have this public ( alternative )school success:

Actually my daughter goes to public school , I have no problem with the education she is receiving and I don't worry (too much) about what she is being exposed to by her classmates.
However we are in the country, the kind of trouble you find in city schools just hasn't made it out here yet.
Thank God

The failure in both these cases is not the school system but the failure of the parents to raise children with a firm grasp of right and wrong. The failure for these children to realize that there are consequences for their actions- leads me to believe that they believed they felt they had no one to answer to- they were without a conscience.

ma and pa was nutjobs so was their kid so lets go take the old farmers deer rifle away instead of dealing with the problem of bully's or the mentally ill and then lets force all the parents who want their kid to have a good education to send their kids to the cesspools we call public schools so this never happens again

Wow, that's really scary and very close to my hometown.

I don't think you can equate this with homeschoolers though. Article said kid voluntarily left school last year; I have to wonder how much legitimate home schooling he was receiving.

This is not representative of home schoolers. Anyone who would condone this is loopy.
