Or a hooker, or a prostitute? I think so but some of my friends disagree. What about a girl who jumps into bed with her boss to get a raise or a bonus? Isn't that same a hooking?

A mistress, in the context you described, which I assume means a single woman who is having sex with a married man, is not the same thing as a hooker: A hooker is a person who sells her body for sex, which is completely different from a mistress. Although I would say that being a hooker and being a mistress are both equally bad and apalling.

Yes, sleeping with your boss to get a raise or bonus is a hooker. A mistress is just an unpaid hooker.

well being a mistress is an affair of the heart, where a hooker is working. as far as bettering urself at work by sleeping with ur boss is a great move for u i think, but its nothing like being a hooker, its more like ur being ur own financial consultant. hey good luck to u on ur promotions and i'll keep u in my prayers.

Mistress is worse than a prostitute/whore, the price to pay for a prostuitute is money, the price to pay of having a mistress is a broken family.....

being someone's mistress isn't the same because the mistress has feelings for the man and she's not doing it to gain any material benefit. Sleeping with your boss to get a raise or a bonus is prostituting yourself because you're doing it for money or status.

Whore/hooker/prostitute gets paid.

Mistress does the same thing, but for free.

Sleeping up the ladder- same thing, different form of payment.

Whores/prostitutes are honest to EVERYONE involved

Same with the person who wants a raise

A mistress is not being honest to everyone, Including her lovers wife

whore:
whore (plural whores)
A prostitute.
(pejorative) A person who is considered to be sexually promiscuous.
A person who is unscrupulous, especially one who compromises their principles for gain.

mistress:
mistress (plural mistresses)
a woman, specifically one with control, authority or ownership
She was the mistress of the mansion, and owned the horses.
a female teacher
games mistress
a woman who (dishonorably) displaces a wife in the affections of a man; a woman, other than his wife, with whom a married man has a continuing sexual relationship
a dominatrix

monogomy vs. promiscuity. ... they are obviously different.

i would think not because that has been going on since time began but getting the raise is the same in my opinion both arent exactly proper behavior in the sence of using ones body for advancement but i have known mistresses who will do it just to be in that particular mans life in any shape or form
