Just know that space heaters use a lot of electricity. And I mean a LOT.

I haven't had central air since I moved out of my parents house 24 years ago. Granted, most of the time I've lived here in San Diego, but it can get very cold here during the winter. I got dinged big time for using the single wall heater [gas] two years ago, so last year I got one good space heater.

There's nothing wrong with having cold areas in your home -- you don't have to keep everything toasty warm. What I do is close off all interior doors, use the space heater in the living room during the evening, then take it into the bedroom. You can get a good unit that weighs less than ten pounds -- check out Consumer Reports.

Good luck.

It'll cost you more to run the space heaters, they are very inefficient. They are also Dangerous. They are the cause of many fires. I wouldn't recommend using one unless you are in the room at all times. I have a 3000 sq.ft. home and set the thermostat @ 68 degrees. Last years winter bills averaged $260 / mo. (Chicago, Illinois suburb)

Last winter we (wife, kids and I) all slept in one room with a space heater and our bill was still over $300 a month with the thermostat set to 62F. get the window kits with the shrink plastic, they are great for stopping drafts. also use weather stripping on the door, if its exterior...

I don't. I live in So Cal and we hardly ever have the heater on. If it is turned on, it's usually in the morning to take the chill out of the air while we're getting ready for work.

I keep mine at 72. Space heaters really run up your electric bills, so keep that in mind. You will be trading one bill for another!!!
