After all these years, why is it necessary to have a "resolution?"

The Resolution about the Armenian Genocide can't have any benefit. It is not the place of Congress to write the history books. The Armenian Genocide is well known, even though the Turkish government refuses to acknowledge it. But the current Turkish government was not the perpetrator (it was the Ottoman Turks, before Ataturk) and nobody that had any responsibility for it is still alive!
It is sad and troubling to me that Turkey will not accept the truth about this historical event, which happened almost 100 years ago.
However, for the US Congress to make an issue of it now, when we have serious current problems in the region, is just dumb. At least Turkey is a Muslim country with a basically secular democracy, and we should be trying improve relations and deal with current issues, so as to prevent FUTURE genocides.

sturdy question. i might think of the U. S. government might have extra significant concerns to attend to than addressing something that got here approximately very almost one hundred years in the past between different worldwide places. perhaps the government isn't happy till the completed middle East area hates us.

It's not! Congress is trying to distract Americans from the fact that they can't accomplish anything. I suspect their approval level will be down another 10 points by the weekend.
