You sound young. Mood swings among teens is common. Females find that their tendency to feel over emotional comes when they have their periods.
If your emotions are too extreme for extended periods of time, people might assume that you're bi-polar. That's not a good thing and treatment should be sought.
If you continue to try to hide your feelings, your extreme depression will eventually show and probably not in a healthy way. People will be shocked that you've "suddenly snapped." They will have no clue that you've had such feelings all along and, even worse, in all that time you will never have learned to deal with your emotions in a healthy way.
As you mature and experience more of life, you should learn to temper your emotions. Hiding them is not good, but you should definitely find a safe way to express them: in a journal, to a trusted confidante, a school or church counselor, etc.

Experiencing a range from very happy to very depressed could be a sign of bipolar disorder. That diagnosis gets thrown around way too much, so your best bet would be to go see your doctor. Even if you talk to your regular doc about it, they should be able to help you find someone to talk to. It's not crazy, it's a condition that needs medical attention. Go talk to a doc and get some more information and then just talk to your friends. If they're good friends, they'll understand and support you. Good luck! =)

actually it is, I have the same problem and I am much older than you. it is a repression of true feelings and the lack of confidence in revealing them. I tend to bottle things up that are most impportant which causes an extroverted effect on lesser things of importance.

me too..im an easy-person to be friends with..physically,im a very happy-go-lucky person..but in the inside,God knows what..i call it hipocracy but to being nice to others..it's not good for me,i know..sometime i depressed a lot about little things, but i don't know how to share with others..usually,i lend my shoulders for others to cry on..so,when got into troubles,i don't know where to go.but believe me,its ok to feel that way..time is the best medicine..feel free to be what u are.dun change,it's not madness..it's good to not letting others know your miserableness..then they won't be worried either..that's how you are thinking right?learn to love yourself..but you also do need to share your problems sometimes..talk about it with someone you are comfortable with..someone you can trust..so that you won't feel ashamed and so on..good luck dear!!(^-^)

depression and mood swings are caused by many things, mostly nutrition, so studies show.
make sure you are eating healthy and gettin plenty of fresh air and exercise. lots of fresh fruits and vegetable for your antioxidents which help the brain function more normally.
us girls also have a double whammy with the hormones. make sure yours are in order.

i completely understand you. i am just like that! i think it's normal, it may creep out your friends, or give them a laugh, but it's okay. i'm just very expressive! my friends think i am just always happy. it's like i have a false facade, as a really perky girl, when i feel sadness too. if you are like that i have some advice: COOKIES AND PEDICURES.

what i try to do is, if i am feeling depressed, i just look on the bright side of things and try to move on... listen to music or watch tv if that helps!
