What i mean without being unkind is that we all tend to be nice on this occasion but may never speak again to the people with whom we joined in. I don`t know if that makes sense.I get a lump in my throat when people are so nice on new years eve at midnight. Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!

I feel the same. It's like we humans can come together in times of need( not that New Years eve is a time of need)
I watch Jules Holland every year, and when it's coming up to 12.00, I get so emotional. Also, at the end of a TV programme, when all the stars all wave as it's the last programme of that year, and shout Happy New Year ,that gets me going.

Call me miserable but i really hate news years eve and always have it means christmas is over and you cant go out anywhere cos all the people who are out havnt been out all year and there all making complete tw*ts out of themselves I avoid it like the plague its only a new date big deal.

I think the song is about never forgetting old friends, no matter how rarely they visit or how distant they are.
On the other hand, if one of them is rubbish, give him a good kicking!.
Drink more Scotch, that's my solution.

it doesnt bother me as i try to be nice all the time but i have known a few people to be nice only then and then the next time i see them they are back being the nasty people they were before
