my dvd rw drive does not work when i go to copy something in the select device box it comes up hl-dt-st dvdram and not dvd rw can u help me please as i have not physicaly touched my dvd rw drive .... thanks

If you put a DVD+R disc in teh drive and a disc with info in another (or use a HDD folder as source) and try to copy with Nero or other program what happens.

Just cos it lists the drive as a DVDRAM does not mean it's not an RW drive, it is more likely that's it's firmware ID.

TRY IT and see if it works. It's simply a DVD Multi drive that can do DVD?r DVD-R DVD+RW DVD-RW and DVD-RAM

plz check your dvd rw cables if it's not properly connected so connect it bcuz device is atteched directly to the system.

Put your DVD cleaner in there and clean it,

first open player put a drinking straw down and blow this will remove and sh** dust. then the player for the grease

you probably need to download the firmware for your drive

Update firmware (try reinstalling), and try different media.
