Technology and advancements in medicine. The field of science insofar as silk and rubber were unavailable so chemical substitutes were found...nylon, rayon and other artificial fabrics and compounds.
Hey...American soldiers found that the chocolate bars they were issued in their rations melted in the tropical heat. I believe it was either Mars or Hershey that discovered coca butter and several other ingriendents that prevented melting up to a certain temperature.
All this....besides not being oppressed and having no liberty. Which is the most important.

I would say that the technology developed during these wars had a long lasting impact afterward. Major advances in airplanes, the development of radar, and the advancement of rocket science to name a few.

I never had to learn Japanese - learned German by choice.
I am not a slave. I am free and can, within certain, basic limits, do what I want.

If it wasn't for WWI, we wouldn't be this far in air travel. At the start of WWI the U.S. started producing warplanes.

If it wasn't for WW2, we wouldn't have rockets today.

i think these wars were useful for us to know that weapons are not enough to be developed
