My husband and I are expecting and thinking of names right now. He really want to name a boy Machiavelli, and his dad wants us to name him Xavier Franceatone. I like Xavier, but would rather middle name be Nikolai. For a girl we like Isadora Marie.

I like Isadora Marie. Xavier is good and I think Nikolai would be a good middle name. I do like Machiavelli, too, and if your husband is okay with that (thinking he won't get made fun of or anything), I would use it. Maybe Nikolai Machiavelli or Xavier Machiavelli. I don't know about Franceatone- I don't even know how to say it, but I don't think the spelling looks nice. Congrats!!

Why Machiavelli? He was an evil man and it's difficult for Americans to pronounce correctly. The only plus I see is that he could be called Mack. As for Xavier, I know two of them and they both hate their names. If you use an unusual name, give them a normal middle name they can adopt if they HATE their given name. NOT Franceatone, something like Xavier James, Thomas (they both sound good). Boys have a MUCH harder time with unusual names than girls do. I really like Isadora Marie.

Isadora Marie is a terrific name for a girl. It is quite pretty.
As for a boy, I'm with you. Xavier Nikolai sounds very strong.
Just remember, the first and middle names should be well-suited to your last name.

I much prefer Xavier to Machiavelli and i prefer Nikolai to Franceatone. However I prefer Nicholas or Mikael to Nikolai so my favourite combo would be Xavier Nicholas or Xavier Mikael.
I love the name Isadora Marie it's very pretty :)

Do you know who Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was? Are you sure that's what you want to do to your kid? Machiavelli leaves much to be desired when it comes to nicknames. Nikolai is a nice choice. I'd go with that for the first name over the others. Isadora is nice, too: not so obscure it's not recognizable as a name, nor is it overused. Good luck!

I can't comment on Machiavelli because I don't know how you would pronounce it. I'm not too fond of Xavier, and don't like Franceatone, or Nikolai, really. sorry, just my opinion. But go with whatever you two really want. It's your baby, you have the right to name him whatever you want (within some reason. you wouldn't want to call your kid Stupid or anything like that) So go with what you really want. good luck!!!
