aren't all the character in this anime based off chacracters in other animes? i mean, they don't look exactly the same and aren't in the same stiuations as the other animes are they? they are just based on those ones. right?

They are based on other characters from other CLAMP manga. eg- Sakura from cardcaptors and Chi from chobits both make an appearance looking very similar but not the same in personalities.
only names and appearance are the same or similar mostly everything else is different (except Syaoran's love for Sakura which remains constant in both cardcaptors and in Tsubasa)

and actually FeiwangReed and the cloned Syaoran are all C lowReed's relatives!
so these stories are related!

Not ALL the characters are from other CLAMP works. Kurogane and Fay for example are original only to TRC (which is sad, becaues we need more Fay).
