The chair is probably really worn if you have had it for 10 years!! i would gladly accept the new one and start breaking it in asap!!! lol . . . maybe the boss wud consider paying you compensation for the chair you have loved and lost (wishful thinking!!!)

Have you tried telling your boss how you feel, you have been at least ten years in the company so I think it is fair that you have a say on what you sit on, you say your boss is demanding you sit on the new chair, are you sure you have not picked up on what he is saying the wrong way, demanding you sit on the chair is a bit much, perhaps he feels that you will be more comfy on a new chair, make him a nice cuppa on Monday and ask if you can keep your old chair

Take the old chair home and start breaking in the new chair. The boss is the boss!

Sit in the new chair for a day and then tell the boss, I'm really sorry, I know you wanted me to use this chair but it just doesn't support my spine the way the other one does. I'm afraid I'm going to have to keep the other one.

This happened in 'Friends' too, it ended badly as i recall.

Your boss is your boss for a reason and can tell you to use a new chair if he wants, you may be able to take it home perhaps.
