I've never been in, but I walk past it every now and then, it's on a main road. During the day the windows are covered, but I saw it once at night and it was really lit up.

I haven't read all of these yet, but I just want to comment on the ones that I have read.

If you really want porn, go online, where the rest of us don't even have to look at the ads for it.

I walk past this place to get to my friend's house or the pharmacy. Other than crossing the train tracks, I can't not walk past it. It's on a main street, which means that we drive past it daily. It's close to our house as well, and I hate the idea of a porn shop so close.

There are a lot of things I don't like and ignore, but this is HARMING people. While the people in these magazines have probably given permission, it's still in a way abuse and taking advantage of people who are really messed up.

I know a few kids, my age, who have been in there. They weren't allowed to buy anything, but they got in without an adult. Yes, this is their fault, their responsibility, but the point is that this crap is in OUR community.

Thanks so much to all the people who're helpful.

I just read your comment tgibby-something, and I wanted to say thank you, because what you say is so true.

There will be a time in my life when I am single and alone or having a tough time in my marrige, but I have more respect for myself and for these poor, poor models.

I'm posting a lot of comments here, but the more I read some of these answers the more I have to say.

1. A lot of people here are saying that it's not my buisness so I shouldn't worry about it. Okay. Then while we're at it, the genocide in Darfur isn't harming me, and the Janaweed (wrong spelling, sorry) could very well be enjoying it. No one has taken a gun into my school, so why should I care? And while we're at it, those millions of starving children don't affect me, so I'll just ignore them too. Sounds good.

3. Thank you Mohamed and Aloe Vera for your comments, they mean alot. Thank you also to everyone who commented kindly.

How is it hurting you? If you don't like it don't go in. It's as simple as that. There are adults who like that type of thing so why take it away from them just because you don't like it? How would you feel if someone else didn't like something you enjoyed so they decided to take it away from you?

There is apparently no local ordinance that forbids such a shop, or the shop takes advantage of whatever zoning permits it does have. To get the shop out of your neighborhood will involve some sort of petition to the local government. A petition requires the signatures of a large number of registered voters within the community and would have to convey the fact that a majority of people want the shop out. For just one person to be offended by it is not really worthy of public action. You can, after all simply not walk past it. Angry protests do not work either. As disgusting as the shop is to you, it is a business, with a legitimate business license, that is likely following local ordinances regarding outside advertising and keeping children out. If local ordinances are not being followed, gathering proof to that effect would help your case. That does not mean that you should try to enter the store, but you can photograph suspicious activity outside, from a proper distance and from a public walkway.

Just like you like to go to the library and read your favorite book other people have the right to read adult material. It is protected under 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the US.

The 1st Amendment to the Constitution protects free expression through speech or press against suppression by the government: “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” All 50 state constitutions contain guarantees of free expression similar to those in the U.S. Constitution.

You may not agree nor have a desire to view such material but that is YOUR choice and YOUR right.

i am sickened by the answers you are getting saying "you are going to need it one day" - That is NOT true. You won't necessarily like porn. I don't want you to think this is as normal as these people are acting. I'm especially disgusted at the women saying this to you - you are a child and you will develop your opinion later in life, but don't think just because these people think it's okay for them, that it's okay for you.

Edit - are you sure you are 13?lol! you seem VERY intelligent in your edits! I'm proud of you! Gosh, my 13 yr. old doesn't even know what Darfur is! Keep taking a stand for what you believe in!! Good luck to you!

Go from house to house in your neighborhood and get signatures from people who want it gone. Then get others to help you protest. Write your newspaper and your mayor voicing your opinions. If possible, talk to the owner of the shop and tell him how dissapointed you are in him for being immoral, disgusting. Fight as hard as you can! I am totally with you!

Picket (peacefully) or petition. If it's on a road where kids walk to and from school a lot that'll help your cause. I'm not sure you'll get it to leave but you might get it to move or simply keep it's windows covered.

I don't get it....Do they have a big screen t.v. outside playing the porn?I would say they don't! If you don't like it (which I'm sure most of this opinion is from your parents) don't go there. Last time I checked this is a free country, you can make the decision not to go and others can go if they want.Get over it,this will not be the last thing you won't like...so learn your lesson now.

Don't walk past the places in life that bother you. Such is the foundation for temptation. Life has many such places. Speak to your parents about your concern to ask what can be done.
