This is what happens when you privatize the military, and have practically no government oversight. The Bush Administration has made it clear to these groups that no matter what sort of crimes they commit to achieve whatever mission they were given, there will be no recourse (at least not from the Administration itself). The Bush Administration has created an atmosphere in Iraq where there is no sense of discipline, morality, justice or patriotism. It's just how much can I get paid from my next fat government contract.

That is not to say that there is no place for an organization like Blackwater, with highly skilled military personnel who can get the job done. But there needs to be accountability enforced by someone or some part of the government that matters.

The Blackwater mercenaries just aren't held accountable for what they do so if they go around shooting innocents they don't get put in an Iraqi prison nor do they face a court martial (which is what those in the military would face if they pulled the crap the mercs do).

Whether they violated any laws is a matter that I'll leave to the courts to decide but regardless, they do need to be dealt with.

Easy. Blackwater mercenaries thought that they were above the law, thanks to the questionable "immunity" granted to them by BushCo. Greed was certainly a motivating factor for some of the "security" personnel, but basically, they just have a penchant for resorting to senseless violence at any opportunity. Trigger-happy indeed.

Blackwater is made up of ex USA military personnel. I will not bash the troops or veterans. I also will not take the actions of a few and to tarnish an entire organization.
