The lady.....As an optimist, I think the lady is behind the door.....as a realist, I know that the lady may be more dangerous than the tiger....

In reading the story, one thing stood out among the others and that was the complete selfishness of the king. He was determined that either way a person accused would be brought under control of the kings will, be it death or reward. He would have to leave behind a life he had before the judgement. So in keeping with the way the princess had been brought up in this example given by her lord father, I am of the opinion she chose the tiger. She could not have him so no one else would either. The torment of knowing he was with another day and night for the rest of her life was too much to bear. Coupled with the imagined infidelity of him to the one who would have been his bride, and the hatred she felt toward her, it would seem she would want the woman to feel as much pain as she was feeling. Neither would have him but she would remain the princess and the other just would remain. In this way she still had the memory of a man who loved her and the people would always say how she had lost her true love because of the cruelty of her father and no one would ever know of his infidelity. This way she was the apple of the peoples's eye and also retained her fathers love, while making the woman's life utterly miserable. She vowed never to love again so as to never face this situation again and so became a martyr to the people and many songs were written of her story and she lived unhappily ever after in her palace with all of her lovers that often became accused of a crime when she tired of them or they tried to ask her father for her hand in marriage. There is no fury like a woman scorned, just ask the tiger.

the lady
. . . .. . i am a realist. i know that if the tiger was there, the lady could' ve let out a hair-raising wail in anguish that woul've scared away even the tiger.

i think it was the tiger. he wouldnt of gone and destroyed not only his life but hers i think he would of chanced it woth the tiger and would of won. then he would of gone to the princess and married her and they lived happily ever after. (or at leawst i would of ended it that way, it would be so romantic)

The Lady.... (although I think the princess switched places with her at the last moment, and he married the princess. I'm REALLY optimistic.)
