im in my science class and i need help answering this!!

You can think of fog as a cloud on the surface, nothing but water vapor. Dew happens when the temperature reaches dewpoint. When this occurs, say grass for instance, the temperature gets cool enough outside that the grass can no longer hold the water that it has stored from the day before. So the water is condensed out of the grass.

Formation of fog is similar to the formation of clouds where water vapour condenses on condensation nuclei( in the form of dust particles,salt particles,droplets of sulphuric acid etc) and become very tiny water droplets .In the case of dew formation, no condensation nuclei is involved and it simply forms over the earh's surface or on the exposed objects(like grass) near the ground.
The colder condition of the earth's surface when compared to that of the air above it is the main reason for dew formation.It is similar to the water droplets formed outside a glass tumbler when it contains ice inside.

dew is water condensed on a surface. Fog is water vapor suspended in the air. They occur under different conditions.

Fog is airbourne water vapour, whereas dew is condensed water (can be from fog)
