Well the have a job part is obvious. It means you are responsible and aren't a lazy slazcker who lives off the government.
The 25??? My husband and I married when I was 19. When I was 18 we bought a house together and had a hard time getting a real estate agent to work with us. We have had that problem ever since. We have 3 kids (5,3,1) and people think we are still to young to know anything. Now that I am 25 I can say it still hasn't changed. We are almost young wnough to be kids of the parents of our childrens friends and they treat us like we are kids and are plaing house. We have been married for 6 years and I am a stay at home mom.
The age of 25 isn't the magic number. We are still treated like kids at 25.

You think you'll be taken seriously then? I've worked since I was 14 and worked my way through college paying for everything myself and people still look at my age and nothing else a nice amount of time.
Stop walking around with a chip on your shoulder whining about not being taken seriously. act mature and show your competence and people will take you seriously then. You just have to prove yourself, like everyone else does.

Actually its not your age.
Its the way you present yourself.
Accomplishments and your attitude also play an important role in how people react to you or perceive you.
But don't bother too much about who takes you seriously and who doesn't, only the ones you care about matter (but also don't follow this rule too rigidly)

Because by the time you're over 25 and have been working awhile you have proven yourself worthy of being taken seriously.
Until then you're a work in progress.....Working on becoming a serious minded, mature, responsible adult. And when you behave with responsibility and maturity, you are worthy of being taken seriously. And when you slip up and act like an irresponsible teenager your are treated accordingly.
It's as simple as that!
That's why!

because you are still a kid in their eyes. i felt the same way. i couldnt wait to turn 30 cause people finally look at you like an adult. the best thing that you can do is just prove them wrong. when i was still in my 20's i was making more money then my mom and had a nicer car then her and everything. so i think i showed her that i was mature and an adult

Our cerebral cortex is not fully mature until 23 or 24 and many of us act that way. A job is an external indicator of maturation and stability..

They have been 21 for 4 years and they probly have their own house and either are getting married or already are and ready to have kids! basically they call everyone else kids till they start making a lot of money, have a house, and your not living pay check to pay check! basically it's a bunch of bull!

Amen to that. I am 24 and have a job.. just believe me, no matter how old you get, there will be someone who is older than you and they will always think they are wiser. People are just blind.

because with age comes maturity and experience i was taken seriously at 20 but i was very mature for that age. most people below 25 and some older are too stupid and irresponsible when your older you will understand better.
