To put it in one sentence, I think we have more life but not better life compared to our forefathers.

Our obsession with quantity accentuated even further by our superior technology is providing more and more comforts in our life, but since we are sacrificing quality for quantity almost in a systematic manner, we are ending up with physical comfort with deteriorating mental peace and are finding ourselves perennially short of time and intimidated by an abundance of risks.

Yes and no. Certainly we have increased technology and capacity many times over even in my lifetime. So the potential for a person to have a better life is much better that 10, 50, 100, or 200 years ago.
But the technology has given us a higher standard to measure against. We not only want a TV but it has to be a 45" flat screened tv with cable to get 500 stations. So the definition of better has gotten much more detailed and costly and harder to get.
So life is better in relationship to our forefathers but we are not happier and more satisfied that our forefathers.
