NO NO NO don't use the tablets unless they are for fish!!
Go to the pet store and but bowl buddies, I recommend them for10 gallon tanks or less. This will harm you pet. The tablets are used for much larger quantities of water, and won't remove other harmful metals from the water. Bowl buddies are extremely cheap.
Good Luck

I would not add any tablets that are designed for a swimming pool. The results may be undesirable. You can do 1 of 3 things:
You can buy water dechlorinater at any fish store for less than 3 dollars. If this isn't convenient you can let the water sit out for about 36 hours before hand so that the chlorine will evaporate or you can simply use bottled or distilled water which has no chlorine.

You need to use dechlorinator you buy at the pet store. EACH AND EVERY water change, you should dechlorinate the NEW water before adding it.
It's best to keep your betta in at least a 5 gallon tank. Bettas need a constant temperature of 78-82 degrees, and heaters for smaller tanks do not have thermostats, so the temps will vary too much. Also, it's easier to maintain healthy water conditions with more water - those small one gallon (or less) bowls get toxic very quickly.
When you do a water change, in a five gallon, you should draw out about 1/3 to half of the water. Fill a bucket with fresh tap water, the same temp as the tank, and dechlorinate. Then add it to the tank by pouring it very slowly over a plate to keep it from stirring up the tank water and making it murky. Once a week, or every other week, is probably sufficient (keep test kits handy and check your water frequently until you get a sense how often is best for you and your fish). If you keep your betta in a bowl or smaller tank, you will need to change the water more frequently - with a bowl, I'd change at least half every day or every other day.

Do not put chlorine tablets in your fish tank. It will ADD chlorine to the water, and it chlorine will kill your fish.
You should go to the pet store and buy a dechlorinator, which takes the chlorine OUT of the water. If you already have a betta, and you haven't been dechlorinating his water, I don't know how he's been surviving.

Uh...chlorine tablets for the pool add chlorine to the water, NOT dechlorinate it, so please don't add them to the fish tank. = almost instant death.
Keep a small container of tap water on hand at all time. Leaving it set out for about 24 hours will "dechlorinate" the water, and you can use it for a partial water change once or twice a week, depending on the size of your tank.

The chlorine tablets you use for a swimming pool are to add chlorine to sanitize the water. You need a water conditioner for your betta's water that will remove chlorine and break the chloramine bond. Go to any petstore or Wal-Mart and look for a water conditioner. You can get one for about $3.00-$4.00 that should treat up to at least 100 gallons. Just ask someone for a water conditioner for your fishtank and they will be able to help you.

NO, don't do that. That will be too strong for the fish. I don't know if this is an option, but you could empty the tank, and start fresh. Just use bottled spring water (buy the gallons from the grocery store) instead of tap. That works the best, and you don't have to add anything or let it set. If you can't do this, than go to the pet store, take a water sample and they can test it, and give you what you need to clean it.

I had a betta that acted in addition only earlier he have been given a bounce on his physique. The bounce, in very couple of minutes, grew to become particularly great - very almost like an unseen parasite or fungus replaced into ingesting with the aid of his flesh. My betta died interior a week of examining this bounce - i attempted utilising a water therapy for fungus contained in the hopes that it might paintings, yet i think of it replaced into too little, too previous due. a minimum of my betta lived a sturdy, long existence - he lived for extra suitable than 3 years outdated which i'm informed is extremely unparalleled, and that i think of he replaced into as happy as a betta must be. i'm thinking if it often is the water you employ once you alter it. I constantly used distilled water for mine - he appeared to do properly with it. i'm hoping your betta would not finally end up like mine did, and which you detect out a thank you to help him experience extra useful quickly.

Why would you want to put chlorine in the tank when you are supposed to use the conditioner to remove it from the tank? No just do your weekly water changes while using the water conditioner. You should only use products that are safe for fish in the tank.

This is an answer that I can not answer, I have a few bettas but I do not have a need to dechlorinize anything, still I am pretty sure that your pool tablets are to strong for fish tanks. The pool has alot more volumen and those chemicals are proportional to where you going to place them. If no one can answer you this question you should go and ask at a pet store.
