I have had very good luck walking quietly about the lawn and waiting for them when to pop up and wacking them with a #3 wood. But my gardener suggested that I would get better speed with a #4 iron.

Nah, it wouldn't be anymore sporting but it would be more humane, think "slice". RScott

Dont shoot them. Very messy. Just get things from OSH or Home Depot like sticks you can put in the ground that give of vibration that scares them away. Humane and always works.
