The past week, every time I turn my water on, the pipes all starting shaking and making loud noise. I have a well, pressure pump, whole-house filter, water softener and iron filter. I'm afraid the pipes will burst? Why is it doing that after living here 3 years? What do I do to fix it?

you either have air in the lines, or the pressure is up, sounds like you need to install a air chamber, in the main line, to eliminate the water hammer,

When we had this problem (called hammering) after new remodeling, we remounted loose pipes to the building structure with pipe hanger clamps. And, we installed water hammer arresters according to the manufacturer instructions. They are so common that even Home Depot and Lowe carries them. The arresters have permanent air chambers to reduce the hammering noises. Maybe that is all you need.

you may have worn valve stem washers! They will cause water to make them vibrate, and this causes the pipes to vibrate.

Shut off the water. Remove the valve stems. Remove the rubber washer on the bottom of the valve stems, and replace them with the proper sized one. Put the valve stems back on, make sure the valves are closed, and turn the water back on.

Open the valves slowly. Shut them off again, then open them again. this allows the rubber washer to form to the valve seats.

The noise should go away, now. if they still rattle, check all the valve stem washers in the house.

if the pipes still rattle a bit, a bracket may have cmoe loose in one of the walls! Big fix!!!!

however, I think you will find that when you change the washers, the vibrations will stop.

you have an air draw someplace on your line. verify the lavatory workings interior the lower back of the lavatory first and confirm you're no longer getting a undertaking there. there is likewise a tank which could be put in on your warm water heater, yet i might verify they in the lavatories and guess they only choose replaced. extraordinarily if the residing house sat empty for awhile, the gaskets tend to dry out or if former proprietors used chemical compounds interior the tank.

Call several plumbers for advice and ask them how much to solve your problem. You are right the pipes will rupture if you don't solve the problem right away. My hot water leaked under my slab and I had to rerun another hot water line to the house. Don't wait too long. Good luck.

Put in a new expansion tank. The bladder in the tank is bad. You may need to put in some air chambers or air vents to resolve the issue. Call a plumber and tell them what I said.
