I think it's wonderful.. of course, he's sharing the prize with the U.N., but it's great that they were recognized for their work to educate others about global warming.

I am one who wishes that our country let the popular vote be the winner.. he would've made a much better president than the one we have now.

Have a wonderful day and weekend yourself!

Most people forget that when the first Pres. Bush asked Congress for permission to invade Iraq, the Democrats controlled the Senate 51-49, and Bush’s request was very controversial. Two Democrats voted with the 49 Republicans to give Bush the authority – Senator Chuck Robb from Virginia and Senator Al Gore. At the time, Gore wanted to run for president in 1992 and was worried that he would not look tough on defense issues. Giving a Nobel Peace Prize to Gore would be like past awards to people such as Kissinger and Arafat. While I applaud Gore’s current efforts to speak out now about climate change, he did not have the courage to do it when he had the national stage in 2000. His past behavior shows that Al Gore is neither a man of courage nor a man of peace.

Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

Al Gore is a strategic choice. However, I believe that there are probably other people far more deserving than Al Gore. Most likely, the Canadian environmentalist Sheila Watt-Cloutier is more worthy of this award, as she has probably dedicated her entire life to helping save the environment. Al Gore has dedicated just a few years.
Unfortunately, we know very little about her. He is famous which is an un deniable bonus.

When revealing the reason behind the choice of this year's winners, the Nobel committee said it wanted to help the world focus on the threat it faced from climate change.

Al Gore and his nobel team will share the $1.5 million prize.

I would be interested to know how the profits from Al Gore's movie "An inconvenient truth" are being used...?
If someone knows, please tell me.

I have always thought that Al Gore was doing more important work and effecting more people since the election was stolen from him then he could have accomplished at President. One door closes and another opens.. I am so proud of him and what he has done for the world recognition of the effects of human activity on climate change. This award was very political. G.W. Bush should be hiding in shame. At least the Nobel committee has the guts to tell it like it is. Al Gore is a man of international stature. G.W. has led us into another imperialistic war and moral decline, and a "hide your head in the sand" attitude about global climate change. Love you, Al and Tipper.. Namaste.

Sweetie, I am always civil to you! (Aren't I??) YOU are always civil; who could be rude to you?
Anyway... I'm with "bonitaka.." Yay! Mr. Gore has done some very important work here, and the whole planet will benefit, if it "listens up!"
I feel the only time the "Nobel people" made an error was with that .... ah.... person.... yeah, okay... "person", Y.Arafat! "Peace" prize, my foot! Only one half of that "team" was sincere, and it wasn't Arafat! Otherwise, I defer to their judgement. This time, if I'd had a vote, I would have been overjoyed to vote for Mr. Gore!
You have a great weekend, please Moon! Great Q! }:>

I don't think he gives much of a care to any of it. He's a puppet selected to be the spokesperson. And nothing more. It's like the A&W bear getting a Peace Prize if the company donates millions of burgers to starving children around the world.

I would tend t question the area (Peace) in which he won the Nobel Prize). However, I AM glad that he received recognition for his crusade to reduce and eliminate the effects of Global Warming. Yes yes, I know Global Warming hasn't been proven (at least according to the Neo-cons who don't want to spend money to address the problem) BUT; as a wise old gambler once told me. Never bet more than you can afford to lose, and I, for one, don't think that WE, as a society, can afford to lose the gamble on this issue. If we win and we ARE able to eliminate Global Warming, the world continues to exist with human on it. Lose and not ONLY do humans end up suffering and possibly becoming extinct but 99% of the REST of Nature loses along with humanity.

I think Al Gore winning this prize is wonderful. He has done lots of good things for the Environment.

Slightly confused that he won it. It does give a new meaning to the word "peace". I can't see anyone who deserved to win the peace prize this year, so maybe they couldn't either and just gave it to him. Or maybe they had good reason to give it to him, either way congrats to him on getting it.

I think this is great!

I am so happy that someone finally put some good recognition to what he has done to show what is happening to our environment.

Some people want to act like this is a "joke" or not happening.

Hopefully by him winning the Noble prize more people will watch his movie and take their own steps to help save our beautiful planet.
