Does being a communist automatically make you a thug? Was Saint Paul a Thug when he suggested communism to the first Christian Communities? (They were to all put all their moneys into the church, then redistribute it evenly throughout the community)
I'm not a communist, because Communism doesn't work. It works as well as corporate-fascism. (Fascism by definition is corporate and government connection) The best system is the American system of Regulated Capitalism. (Not lawless capitalism, but our great corporations following the law)
If Nelson Mandela was a communist, and this is what he believed, however wrong, does this make him a thug, like some reicht-wingers would say? Should the peace he fought for be ignored? I hadn't realized so many American right-wingers were pro Apartheid.

Well, now you relize Cookie. You can go cry yourself to sleep over that one. I'm proud to be annoying (to use a non-curse word) when annoying is right.

The Apartheid Regime murdered political opponents, tried to develop biological weapons that would only target black people, and is suspected in the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme.

Mandela himself criticized the militant tactics of some in the African National Congress.

The Neo-Nazis of the Apartheid Regime or Nelson Mandela, who were the real thugs?

Sorry, but the link that you provided to support the ridiculous charge levied against Nelson Mandela has no credibility. Please post a credible source to back up your claim - it is the first time I have heard something so outrageous and would like to see where you are getting this from.

He was not a thug, other people in his movement (including his wife he divorced as soon as getting out of prison) used violence but he was imprisoned at the time. The communist party was the only supporter of the freedom fighters in South Africa during the Aparthied Era, the US and West tended to support the Government, so Mandela had no one else to turn to and by defualt ended up with the Communists.

You see the same thing played over and over again during that time period, others who made similar choices where Castro, Ho Chi Mihn and Ortega of Nicaragua

Unfortuantely we have chosen the old "us or them" mentality again even without a superpower foe this time around. We have driven Venezuela into the arms of Iran including turning Iran from our biggest Moslum Ally against the Taliban and AL Quida into a suporter of those same groups. Iran was the only moslum country to send troops to help us in Afganistan along with $100's of millions in dollars of aid for the new government, yet bush still labled them the Axis of Evil. Then things went down hill.

When I read your question I was initially outraged! How dare anyone call Nelson Mandela a thug? Then I read on........and have to agree with several of your statements.

I believe "thug" is used by the Right Wingers, because fascists always hate communists. They are polar opposites and right wingers are particularily mean spirited and hateful. But then again look at the Nazis.

However, the Right Winger will attempt to paint the Nazis as communists since the name of the Nazi party was "National Socialists". Of course, they hated Socialists/Communists so it's Right Wingers grasping at straws in their supreme ignorance.

Apartheid, as most know was a system of segregation and oppression of the black majority in South Africa. Kept on reserve districts, opportunities were severely limited to them and they were generally kept in extreme poverty and subservience. If fighting that system makes you a thug, then I guess he is.
But this is the typical world view of the imperialists. Using force is only justified to them if you're the oppressor and your weapons are vastly superior to your target's. Otherwise, you're a communist. The poor and oppressed should simply put up with it while imperialists keep building bigger and better weapons to keep them in their place.
