I am not sure about a transcendental meaning of life, but I have found that doing useful work that one enjoy gives life a certain amount of meaning.

Life has no meaning whatsoever. If it had meaning we'd all know the answer, and no amount of assuming or expounding or digging in the earth for fossils is going to give us the answer. Your best bet is to read the words of Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes and I guarantee that you will come away with at least an understanding about our lot on earth. Be Good .

I believe that it is everyones responsibility to make themselves as happy as possible. I believe by genuinely helping humanity a person can derive the greatest degree of satisfaction, and ultimately happiness. I don't believe that this should be a "self sacrifice" thing, and not a "parasitical" thing either, rather more like a "symbiotic" type of a thing. We are social creatures, and happiness should be our goal.
