It's a pretty big joke. It's too bad the Nobel has become a popularity contest and has lost some prestige.

Here is the rationale:
"The Norwegian Nobel Committee said global warming, 'may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states.'". . .
Jan Egeland, a Norwegian peace mediator and former U.N. undersecretary for humanitarian affairs, also called climate change more than an environmental issue.
"'It is a question of war and peace,' said Egeland, now director of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs in Oslo. 'We're already seeing the first climate wars, in the Sahel belt of Africa.' He said nomads and herders are in conflict with farmers because the changing climate has brought drought and a shortage of fertile lands."

first of all, Vice-President Gore purchases carbon offsets for his air holiday (which isn't constantly in a private jet, in actuality he flies commercial while ever a risk), there by potential of not in basic terms final carbon independent, yet in addition encouraging the upward push of the golf green financial equipment. 2nd, he gained the award an identical way absolutely everyone does, the Norwegian Noble Committee from among those names placed into nomination chosen him. The Noble Committee is self sufficient, although appointed by potential of the Norwegian parliament, and are waiting to award it to tremendously lots absolutely everyone they please. This year, they chosen to award it to Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on climate exchange. As for why, the Noble Committee for sure perspectives the ambience as a humanitarian subject and has chosen to renowned the IPCC as a physique and Al Gore specifically for his or her efforts in this area. that's their prerogative.

Note that Gore shares the Nobel with the IPCC. Together they deserve it, the IPCC for proving that global warming is real, and Gore for making that known to the world.

It's quite obvious how this relates to peace, and was given as a rationale for the prize (as someone has already referenced). The effects of climate change will cause more competition for resources and hence more conflict - anything that helps lessen this risk is clearly in the cause of peace.
I applaud the decision and only hope it has the side effect of encouraging some of the ever-lessening denial brigade to snap out of their self-indulgent idiocy and accept what is so clearly happening before their eyes.

Nothing.
It is clear that he doesn't believe that global warming is a danger because he still takes private planes on trips, eats meat, etc.
This is just a way that he has found to make a lot of money and get attention.
His movie is full of falsehoods.

Al Gore has made global-warm-mongers even more violent after feeding all of those pretty-looking charts and graphs into the minds of liberal sheep.
