He has certainly used his position well to raise awareness on ecological issues. He also is well versed in the subject.
I'm not sure if I agree with everything he says, but if he gets people to use the planets resources more responsibly, he is a figure to celebrate in this way.

As a belgian citizen I feel very happy AG won Nobel prize, honestly I used to think he deserved this award - Congratulations Mr Gore!
And I so hardly would like he run for presidence...

I'm confused how he gets the Nobel Peace Prize? I could understand the Environmental Awareness Prize but I guess it must have been a quiet year on the Peace front this year!

Yes absolutely, the man has single-handedly raised the awareness of global warming in a country where the hostility towards this issue is enormous, and he has risked personal ridicule and animosity for something he believes in so passionately. Congratulations Al Gore!

thissith: The question of what he's done to deserve it isn't for us to answer - ask those people who've decided to give him the award. They're the same organisation that awarded the Nobel Prize to other people like Mandella, etc., so presumably they have some credibility in what they're doing..
