Lol, well apparently we've already discovered possibility of life being on Mars, and even some nutritional stuff on the moon. And as what science will always do, they will dig and dig and dig and spend billions of tax payers money and such to try and research it, and of course in the end just hide it from the people if things go haywire. They'll give the general public tidbits of stuff, but the main stuff will be hidden away somewhere. But scientists would research day in and out til the resources run dry.

We would try and to communticate with them in some way. We would try to figure out how and why they are on another planet and then probably try to figure out a way to live on that planet with them and bring them to ours as well. Or it would start another world war and we would all die because we would find that they are stronger than we are and they would wip us out and take over our planet or we would do the same to them. Eh either way we would try and figure out a way to live there! That would be so cool!

First, we would send an envoy to explore and investigate.

When the alien world realized that those inside of our spacecraft; carried disease, had small minds, and were prepared for battle; they would destroy the ship

which, in turn

would infuriate the multi-government task-force set up to deal with this new world

then

we would send the largest nuclear weapon ever created, to destroy this new found world and its inhabitants, and watch the wildest fireworks ever as it neared their planet.

I think the Media would hype it up as a danger.
The gov't would cut funding.
While most smart people wouldn't be surprised. There has to be life out there somewhere. We aren't the only living planet.

Just like with human cloning, finding other people on another world would very likely spell the end for religion. Best regards

Advertisers would want to sell to it.
Politicians would be after its vote.
Mafia would be seeing if could be addicted to something.
Americans would try and improve its political system.
Brits would see if they had any good beer.
Germans would go and occupy their sun beds.
Some firm would patent its DNA.

My mother in law would ask if it was anywhere near Birmingham.

Exploitation.

I think we would invade and try to take over, regardless of the other life form's technology.
