I hired a plumber refered to me by my gardener. I think it's his cousin. Anyway, Mario showed up right on time and inspected my plumbing problems and needs. As usuall, the problems were much greater that I had anticipated.

He told me that is was best if all the problems were taken care of at one time. So, trusting him I said ok.

I had no idea he would remove 7 toilets, both water heaters, the washer and dryer, and what looked like a half ton of copper pipe. He stated that it was better to take all of the above to the shop for inspection and repair.

That was a little over a week ago. I haven't seen him since.

Should I be worried?

No. He is obviously doing a very thorough inspection, checking for the smallest possible problem. Give him another six months to complete the inspection.

Did you give him a deposit? Do you know where he lives or where this shop is? There is no need to leave the premise with your toilets! He may have a machine to test the pressure of your pipes, but unlikely. Were your toilets newer? If that answer is yes and you gave him a deposit, than you just got taken for a ride. I can't see him getting enough to recycle for removing all that stuff, he could make more helping your gardener for that kind of labor. Did you call him? If he doesn't respond call the police. Next time when you have people working in your house I'd suggest asking local stores for reputable, honest guys that have been around for a while. I wish you the best!

It sounds like a con job to me.Scrap copper prices are going up and many thieves steal the metal to sell to a junkyard. You can't repair a toilet without it being connected to the water supply. And all the above items would not fail at the same time. The only thing a plumber does is repair leaks, the only way to verify that the leak is fixed is to turn the water back on.

A lot of druggies sell copper pipe for quick cash. You have 7 bathrooms? Don't know why you didn't think something was up, but it's time to call the cops, and maybe get a new gardener and security system. A dog and a shotgun, too.

Did you get an invoice for the work that was done? It should have the master plumbers license number on it. If it isn't, ask for his license number, then call the state board of plumbing examiners, and file a complaint against him. He should have fixed any problems, to your satisfaction, before he accepted payment. As for the knobs being tight, he installed the faucet incorrectly. Do not pay him another dime! Good luck!

The junkyard will finish the inspection and forward the copper to Lowe's or Home Depot via a copper smelter. It will be as good as new! May I suggest a new gardener and perhaps plastic pipe!

Yes you should. This guy just stole some stuff from you and made it easy as hell to liquidate and get it all sold off before you know any wiser. You had better get on his ***, find him and call the cops if he dosent conatact you in 24 hours. I would NOT PLAY...you tell him that you want all of your stuff back. Plumbers do not need to TAKE everything out of your house!!! What a scam artist!!! Arg. You gotta be kidding me that you LET this guy run off with your stuff. Please announce his name so that we ALL avoid that garbage picker in the future!!! I am so sorry you were taken. GO and GET HIM!!!-Rachel.

Worried? hell, I'd be scared to death. I would find that gardener and, grab him by the neck and, insist where the hell this joker went.
If I didn't get an answer I'd call the police and tell them what happen. This is totally out of context and out of control. I have no idea what he's doing or what his idea is but, I'd have a serious talk with him, right away.

For sure, call the cops, he stole everything from you.

7 Toilets? Wow. I'd like to do some electrical work for you. How many electric panels do you have?
