Certainly there are Commercial type lights/fixtures that are fixed to clamps. In theater we use specific models with clamps and often use "Pipe & Drape" poles for the lighting.

The commercially sold might look like drop lights used for auto repair etc. I have one; (Old Style) that looks like a vegetable colander; with now holes; attached to the bulb socket, and is aluminum; with a mill finish.

Your issue will likely be involved in the "reflection of light"; projection of that light; Directing that light; and perhaps using shields/ gels/ gobos.

I've thought about this challenge for a bit!

I was in my shop, and just appened to look at my tamper for tamping dirt and cold patch. the original handle broke, so I bolted on a piece of pipe!

Go to Home Depot and take a look at a hand tamper1 The base is a steel plate 10" x 10".

You could cut off the wooden handle, about 3" to 6" off the base. Slip a piece of tubing over the wood handle, and screw it on. You can make the pole 8 ft. long, if you want to.

if you have a lot of heavy lights, just put plastic bags full of sand around the base, to keep it from tipping over.

Let me know if this idea appeals to you, or if you try it, did it work OK!!

Just take the shade off an old lamp and clamp them to the post . . . . or a 2x4, or a broom handle . . .
