It depends on when they have to get up in the morning.
Mine went to bed at 9:00pm because he had to get up around 5:00am for school.
During the summer, it's a free for all so they stay up until 10:00 or so.

13 is a big year... teen years... most 12 and younger go to bed on an average of 9 o'clock but when you hit 13 you feel alot older because your a teenager and therefore want more leniency so if your 13 yearold was going to bed at 9 i would say move it up to 10 or 10:30 but i would say no later then that. 11 is a little late because if they get busy and dont get their in time before you know it its midnight. and if they have to ride the bus from 6:15 in the morning like i did then that makes for a very long unatentative day

10-12 hours of sleep is recommended for teenagers. My 13 yr old goes to sleep at 9:30 or 10:00 depending on what's on television.

13 year-old sneed about 9-10 hours of sleep per night. Do the math...if s/he needs to be up at 6 am, then s/he should be in bed by 10 pm.

10pm is when I put mine in. Its not too early, just before all the late night programming on TV starts and long enough for them to have adequate rest for the next day. On the weekends, I let her stay up ast midnight (though she never really made it). It helped a great deal after she became an adult because now her body and mind has been trained to get to bed early and wake up early for work...shes never late. However, try it for about 6 months. If she consistently gets tired before then, up it to 9:30 and up it till you find the right time. But ten has worked fine for myself and everyone I know...just dont let her watch TV or play games before bed and NEVER let her take her cell phone to bed with her!!

According to doctors / medicall science a normal person should get atleast 6 hours, and normally 8 hours.
if your child goes to school i think at 10 pm will be good, it would also be better if u let u duaghter take a nap for 1 to 1 1/2 hour nap afternoon when she comes back from school
if children get tried a lot they might sleep more then 8 hours.

Given that it will take her a little time to go to sleep, at least 9 hours before she has to get up. Unless she is regularly getting up before the alarm goes off, don't take any notice of her saying she should go to bed later.

Make sure your 13 year old is getting 8 hours of sleep. Watch him in the late afternoons while he is doing his homework? Is he groggy? Is he falling asleep on the couch? Maybe he needs more sleep! 8 hours is the minimum.
