I agree with Nitin. If you hear a Ferrari engine when it runs, it sorts of sound heavy and Mclaren on the other hand, has a lighter sounding engine. When in slow tracks, the lighter car can pull itself faster and that's what McLaren capitalised on. BUT on fast tracks, heavier engines have the advantage of power to pull ahead.

It's very close. But ultimately I would give an edge to the Mclaren for a few reasons. First is the overall mechanical grip and balance. Ferrari seems to have an edge in many of the aero-packages which negates the Mclaren advantage... but ultimately, mechanical grip works in all situations and leaves them with an advantage on the tighter slower speed sections (and allows for a little less wing on some of the higher speed stuff). It's also allowed them to run a wider range of setups, allowing them to take more advantage at tracks that have taller berms.

And secondly, reliability! Considering recent years, it's hard to imagine that Mclaren have shown better reliability than Ferrari! But they have... while Ferrari have made strides in this area as the year has progressed, if you look at the whole season, Ferrari's inability to consistently finish two cars in the points is what would have given Mclaren the championship (if they hadn't been stripped of their points); and what will likely give one of their drivers a championship (barring an amazing result in Brazil from Kimi).

It seems they both have their strong points. The McLaren performs well of high speed, low downforce tracks like Indy, Canada, and Monza. But the Ferraris do good at medium downforce tracks like Spa and Turkey, and this past weekend at China.

The McLaren does not like the softer option tire whereas the Ferraris prefer them.

Hard to pick a definite winner if you were to take reliability out of the question because Ferrari has definitely been bitten by the reliability bug this year. Started right out of the gate in Australia when Massa hit the curb in the wrong place and killed the transmission causing him to start 14th or something like that.

Based on this year? HArd to say after all that drama. McLaren looks better at certain tracks while the Ferrari looks better at the rest. I'm quite divided over this but I'll give it to McLaren

McLaren have better grip in the rain and they have more pace. But it's pretty close between McLaren and Ferrari. I think McLaren is more reliable and can adapt better in different weather/race track conditions.

You will need to define "better"!

Ferrari's are faster and have more aerodynamic grip, McLarens are more reliable with better mechanical grip. So as a race enthusiast, I'd vote for the Ferraris, we want fast action, right?

I like ferrari but i think mclaren cars have been performing better and more consistently this season, i don't think it has anything to do with the scandal thing at all.

It was ferrari but after mclaren got so much of tecnical information from ferrari they are more or less the same. Mclaren cheats too much.

This year it is Mclaren because it has been more reliable. It really depends on the track which one is better for speed. They are both very even.
