when my boyfriend and I are making love he often is quite excited but finds it difficult to ejaculate. I've asked him if I'm doing something wrong or if there is something else I can do and he says that's just how he is. Is this normal?

If your boyfriend can ejaculate while masturbating (either from you or himself) or from other means (Eg. Oral sex) then the problem is not physical. People are different, some men can come from masturbation but not actual penetration and vice versa. He just needs to relax, enjoy it, your doing nothing wrong.

If he can ejaculate during masturbation , then the issue is not physical but some sort of mental block .
He needs to be more relaxed and less pressurised .
You can help by reassurance and continuing foreplay , stimulation and massage
I am sure he will overcome this issue with some support and understanding from yourself.

Most likely it is a psychological response-- fear of pregnancy even subconsciously results in many guys being unable to actually ejaculate in a vagina, but can do it easily otherwise. Even with protection and the pill, many guys will still experience this so don't dwell on it.

Only a doctor can say.Normal duration between 2 and 7 minutes.Average being about 3.5 minutes.If it takes more than 7 minutes ,whether any block is there has to be checked.But people prefer long duration.

Try bringing him to ejaculation just using your hands if that is no problem then it something physiological and not a function issue
