Like I said, my name is Cassandra, I have always gone by Cassie, but I am almost (gasp) 30 and it is starting to sound really childish. I don't want to go by my middle name which is Rose, it just doesn't fit me. Cassandra sounds really pretentious to me, can you think of any new names that might be derivative of mine, that I can go by? Please please PLEASE NOT Cathy. I have actually hit people for calling me that. Oh, and Sandra (Sandy) is my mom's name.

I personally love the name Cassandra! However, these are a few alternatives:
Casey, Casie, Cass, Kasey, Sandra, Sandy and Cas...
It is possible that this name is a form of Alexander (''warrior's protector''), which originated as a feminine name -- in fact, a by-name for Hera, queen of the Olympian gods.
Also, do you have any particular traits or characteristics? - these could form the basis for an entirely unrelated nickname.
Hope this helps,

Cass and maybe Andie are the only ones I can think of.
Although if I were you I'd stick with either Cassie or Cassandra because that is what people know you by so that is what would suit you most. Cassie doesn't sound childish, it's practically the only suitable nickname of Cassandra as well as Sandra and Sandy which you cannot use.

How do people get Cathy out of Cassandra. I don't think it sounds pretentious at all. I really like the name. Or, you could be just Cass?

I am astonished that you think your name sounds pretentious! It's beautiful and grown-up and you SHOULD use it every chance you get!
Do you think Amanda sounds pretentious when girls are called Mandy as children?
I think you should give yourself permission to be "Cassandra" instead of hiding behind a nickname. Go ahead! Don't think people will think your name is pretentious! You are quite likely the only one that thinks it.

How about Cass? Without the ie on the end it sounds more formal. My co-workers daugher is named Cassandra but called Casey (she's 33), but I guess Casey is just as youthful sounding.

I like Cassandra and Cass. Or you could go by Sandra since your mom goes by Sandy.

I see not something pretentious approximately the two call. they're solidly masculine, and slightly outdated college, it extremely is effective, because it completely shakes off trendiness. (i'm unquestionably extremely prepared on Raymond, especially). the sturdy think of roughly William is, it leaves the door open for particularly some nicknames. you may opt for to call him Liam, yet his friends will possibly not, and your husband has innovations, too, if he would not like Liam. Aster Grace is rather effective, too. not a flower call you hear very usually.

My maid of honor's name is Cassandra, but we've always known her as Kasi (although my fiance call's her Cassandra to pick on her). I actually like the name a lot myself.
