Colic IS a belly ache and starting solids is not the cure. Maybe your doctor meant that by 4 months of age colic usually goes away, and statistically he is correct. But remember that colic can happen to any baby, regardless of diet. It happens to breast fed and bottle fed babies and it doesn't go away until the baby outgrows it (so to speak).
You are very right to be careful what you give him. Why make it worse with foods that he can't digest easily?
Hang in there and continue to provide your baby with any comfort measures that work for him. And take care of yourself as well. Avoid all those people who brag to you about their baby who sleeps all night long and never cries. I went through colic with my third child and those comments were difficult to hear when I was up walking the floor with my baby. I can also share with you that the end of colic will be in sight soon. It may not seem like it now, but it will!

Hey my son had colic

You might want to be careful with feeding him solids as 4 months is ok but don't feed him too many different things as this can cause food allergies.

Are you breastfeeding? if you are formular feeding it could be the milk powder try switching.

Wind your baby half way through a feed and again afterwards for about 15 mins or so!

The other thing that could be causing a a tummy upset could be constipation again if formula feeding look into switching if breastfeeding perhaps look at your diet avoid acidy foods such as tomatoes and Oranges.

Keep feeds small but frequent every 3 - 4 hours

Try infacol or gripe water or someother colic medication

If your still having problems seek advice from another DR

All the best

Your baby may have a lactose intolerance. Is there any chance that you could go back to breastfeeding while you introduce solids? You know, babies don't really need solids until they are 6 months old...if you are breastfeeding. A baby's digestive tract does not handle solids well if introduced too early.

Are you feeding him too much. Try feeding a little at a time instead of a lot at one sitting. If that does not work, you should discuss this with your pediatrician. He could have allergies or other problems.
