need to remove housing from gas trimmer how?

There should be small screws holding the housing on. Usually quite a few. On the leaf blowers the screws are torque type screws that takes a special screwdriver or bit that looks like a star. They come in different sizes so you need a set.

My poulan 335 trimmer has a new carb and it still runs a few minutes and cuts off . Engaging the choke rapidly back and forth keeps it running enough to know its an air problem. The clogged exhaust port not an easy part to disassmble, its connected to the crank rope, fuel tank. The crank setup may be the first part to fly apart since its spring loaded. On the 335, you cant get to the muffler without taking all this is apart.. as for the carb adjusting screws, are deep set and cannot be accessed without a special tool. I think on most of these its an air problem around thee exhaust. Im liking more and more the opinion of the fellow who said, "its junk buy a different one".
