what are toilet facilities like in greek hotels?

we would like to go to one of the greek islands but we are put off by toilet hygeine

I can't speak for every single hotel in the entire country, but with the exception of not flushing the paper andinstead putting it into a bin, there really isnt that much difference. I'm sure you get good ones and bad ones, but thats just the way it goes.

It's certainly not a reason to not visit a country with the amazing history and culture that Greece has

There are various facilities in Greek hotels. Toilets are also amazing. I visited many hotels in Greece. I visited many hotels in Greece but I found a hotel which is the best hotel there for me. I have included link below. Hope it helped you.

You mustn't let the tiolets put you off Greece! Greek islands are the best place for holidays.
In the toilets you put the paper in the bin, which has a closnig lid so you don't have to see it.
They flush just the same.
The toilets in the hotels are always cleaned regularly. Yes maybe in a tiny taverna in the sticks you may see a bin that needs emptying, but as its not your job, I can't see why you should mind.
Go and experience the wonders Greece has to offer. I have never given two thoughts to the toilet when in Greece!

the toilets in hotels are fine, you won't notice any difference really. you just don't put your toilet paper down the loo, but in a bin at the side and its usually emptied daily.
Ive been to greek islands on and off since 1999 and have only seen the hole in the ground toilets once in all that time and that was in a little village in halkadiki (mainland greece) way back in 1999.

Hotel toilets will be fine, no worries. Just don't flush the paper down, put it in the little toilet bin. As for little tavernas (small restaurants) if they are not that good, just have some baby wipes with you in case. But the Greek islands are sooooo wonderfull that this should be the least of your concerns. Just come over and enjoy yourself!!!

Toilet facilities in greek hotels are excellent. I have never been to a hotel that had dirty toilets in Greece.

And by the way where do you actually flush the paper down the toilet? In Canada we don't do that either.

I think you'll find hotel toilets are quite hygenic - however choose taverna toilets carefully!!! Paper in bin not down the loo .... think this is silly ....try putting loo paper down and block the drains ...... not nice! If you have children (especially girls) I would suggest carrying the kleenex wipes in your bag with you. I have 2 daughters under 8 and we choose our eating places because of toilets ... we may miss out of the best food ... Greek hubby thinks the dirtier the place the better the food ... but I have peace of mind!

Toilet facilities at hotels in Greece are excellent, and very clean. You may find some not so good toilets in some bad low cost tavernas, but you don't have to use them!

I've found the small rooms-to-rent much cleaner than big luxurious hotels. Especially if the rooms are owned by a family, and its on a small village :P
But basically the hygiene in Greece it's alot better than other countries.
