I have that too, the morning jitters... and I sleep well,
often I take sleeping pills to make me sleep, but even with that, it is really hard for me to feel "rested".
But you are not alone.
What helps me get up for class is Strongly brewed
French Roast coffee (I drink at least 2 1/2 cups every morning)
with cream and sugar.
Then when I get ready, for my shower, I use this "mint" scented soap to wash, the mint tingles and also the scent
awakens me.
Finally, after I have gotten dressed (and always really comfy clothing) then I put my hair up (nothing fancy) and do my makeup. What helps me look "awake" is this undereye cream that helps diminish dark circles (made by Bliss, called All Around Eye Cream). Finally, put the shoes on,
and I'm out the door.
Another motivator is finding some sort of Eye Candy in class. Each class has somebody really good looking, and you just pretend that by each time you go to class, you are one step closer to seeing that person, getting to know that person.
This technique works even if you are in a relationship, because this acts upon the Fantasy element in your life.
(It's true you will probably never know this person, however, an occasional "hi" might add fuel to this motivation).
Finally, going to class on a regular basis keeps you from slipping... you are on track with your homework, tests, lectures, whats going on. Usually the one's who get good grades went to class.
A last thing is, make sure you pack plenty of snacks or drinks to have along with you when youre at school. When you get thirsty, you may feel irritated, and just ready to screw school and just go home. However, if you have something to drink on hand, then the chances of you bailing are far less...
School is brutal, it is a lot of work... however, there is always something at the end of the rainbow.. in our case, it's our degree. So get up, try the coffee, awakening body wash, comfortable clothing/shoes, and minimal getting ready process... and oh, don't forget about the Eye candy (that special cutie) who will be waiting to see you in class (or at least in your fantasy world).

I absolutely had this feeling and it contributed to my failing all my morning classes. Please do not do this.
Drink coffee.. And I mean it. I would drink two shots of espresso and be a rocket within half an hour.
If you don't like caffeine (its really not all that good for you)
Start while laying down reach over your head and stretch huge. Then slowly work your way out of bed doing stretches that primarily work your spine, which will get the blood flowing through your body and wake up your mind to face the day.
I cannot tell you how hard it was for me to get up. I just naturally get up around eleven and its been that way since I was five. It was torture for my parents. Now I'm an adult and I live a life where I don't need to, but I look back and wish I had made those classes.

Reward yourself for getting up and making it to your classes on time. Definately let your body have an extra one or two hours sleep each night. Remember that these classes are only for a short blip in your life, you wont have this time in your life in the future, so do all you can now before its gone. See yourself getting A's for good effort put in. Imagine how you will feel if you get D's for giving the same amount of time to classes. Its not worth it - if I have to put years into learning a subject I would prefer to end it with the highest grade I can squeeze out of it! Waking up to your favourite CD could help boost your brain's "happy stuff" first thing. Its naturally low first thing in a morning. I think there's some motivation in all that for you. Good luck!

I have this same exact problem! I'm excited to see the answers! I have to get up the first time I wake up, like if I hit snooze and go back to sleep, I wake up feeling even worse. Usually a hot shower helps wake me up, and then a medium breakfast like not too light and not too heavy, with some cold water and coffee on the side. Good Luck! I hate this problem too!!!

If you are getting adequate sleep a night (7-8hrs a night) maybe its more than just being lazy and needing more sleep. It could be a medical problem such as sleep apnea. With sleep apnea you stop breathing in middle of the night and you come out of REM sleep, thus you dont sleep as well, and wake up feeling more tired. Or maybe aim to get a couple hrs more of sleep a night first and see if that helps... if no, go to the doc and ask him about it...

I have the same kind of problem. I don't know... I guess you will have to go to sleep earlier in the evening, like 10 o'clock. And, there is something else. You have to be driven by a goal, a purpose. When you have that purpose in your mind, and if you like what you do whatever you do, then you'll get up a lot easier. I think it's a matter of attitude and personal satisfaction.
Maybe you should see a psychologist.

maybe you are like me and need nine hours of sleep. If possible set the coffee pot the night before so you smell it as you wake up. Have a clock radio that wakes you to music you enjoy. Fix a breakfast and read the paper. Give yourself time so you don't have to rush. Then go to class.

u need your quota of sleep. so it is better to sleep early. also it wud be difficult to wake up suddenly. so make it a point to open your eyes at least half an hour before uactually want to get up. then slowly get up and sit for some time. open radio or tv even if feeling sleepy. in a few minutes u will feel taotally alert and begin your day's routine. u can even keep your eyes closed for a few minites in sitting position.

Sometimes a lack of Iron will cause you to betired. Try getting some vitamins. Your local health food store will be able to advise you on what will help you to increase your energy level without using stimulates such as caffiene.
