Do you say I am going to spend a penny can i use your bathroom or other?

Depends where I am - say a meeting at work and I really cant wait id just stand up quietly and say "excuse me a moment" at home - nothing its my home - at a friends house "im just going to the loo" at the pub - "I need the loo, come with me pleeaaase" - LOL to a female friend - usually to gossip rather than pee!

If I'm somewhere new I'll ask politely if I can use their bathroom. If I'm somewhere I know and they know me I tend to just say "excuse me" and go! If I'm at home I normally hop up and down saying "I need a wee, hurry up" because sods law dictates there'll always be someone in there when I need to go!

I've never heard of that spend a penny thing - that must be a regional thing.
I usually just say, "Excuse me, be right back." They get it.

Pull out your chair and put it nicely back, kindly ask the waiter where is the restroom. try to be as quick as you can, but not in a hurry. And in the toilet, freshen up yourself, adjust your tie or check if there's anything stuck in your teeth. Walk back smartly. :D

i get up and go to the bath room i dont use manners unless it was for a very special thing
