There are many causes of hair loss. Hair loss can be due to:
+ Infections, such as a fungal infection of the scalp or a sexually transmitted infection called syphilis.
+ Medications (some)
+ inflammation of the scalp, which can cause patchy hair loss and is often treatable.
+ Trauma to the hair or scalp, which may include certain hairstyles that constantly pull on the hair, such as tight braids.
+ low levels of iron in the body, which may also cause anemia, or a low red blood cell count
+ Hypothyroidism, which is a condition caused by low levels of thyroid hormones
+ stress, including emotional stress, surgery, illness, or rapid weight change
+ Hormonal changes, including those caused by pregnancy, menopause, or use of oral contraceptives
+ high levels of vitamin A

Medicines may also help slow or prevent the development of common baldness. One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. It is applied to the scalp. Both men and women can use it. Another medicine, finasteride (brand name: Propecia) is available with a prescription. It comes in pills and is only for men. It may take up to 6 months before you can tell if one of these medicines is working. (REMEMBER : DON'T TAKE ANY MEDICINES WITH OUT CONSULT A DOCTOR

Good luck-
