Yes it is most likely racism. As a white person I feel ashamed that people who only differ in skin colour are targeted for that small difference. It is a violation of human rights to discriminate and it is easy for people who are not the target of lifelong discrimination to say grin and bear it.

So.... the cops are racist in your opinion - they checked you out a 2 am, they chose you because they hate blacks? If you had been white, female, Asian, or Hispanic, they would have just cruised on by, right? WRONG!
WHY do you instantly ASSUME racism is the reason - the RIGHT explanation is as plain as the nose on your face - all it takes is a little bit of THINKING!!
Let me tell you a bit about law enforcement. They are their busiest between 1 - 4 a.m. - they are on high alert - that's when the bars close, and statistically more robberies take place. SO, if you happen to be out during those hours, chances are VERY LIKELY that you will catch a cops attention. Cops deal with all kinds of people all day and night - they don't have TIME to seek out a specific RACE to question. BOTH me AND my husband have been pulled over in the wee hours more than once - - should we think the cops are racist against WHITE married people too?? How ridiculous!! I cant imagine being so narrow minded to think I am the exception to the rule!
If you cannot handle cops doing their job because it brings up bad feelings and racist thoughts, then DO NOT BE OUT BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 1 - 4 a.m. !!!!!!! Yea, you be all of 25 and you have the right to come and go WHENEVER. When your "whenever" is the early morning, you will be INVITING a visit from the local P.D. - sorry, you cannot exempt yourself from questioning because you are BLACK and 25.

I understand your point of view and I have a great deal of sympathy for it.
Racism, in general, is emotionally based and contains no rational thought. If there is no reasonable or logical reason why someone does something, then race is the determining factor, but not until- which is why hate crimes are so difficult to prove or invoke. The problem is when racism is the first thought, not the last.
Asking the right questions will eventually let you know one way or the other. Granted, this may be a lengthy process, but depending on your approach, you may disarm a potential adversary- a positive approach to the questioning may make a friend or should the person be racist, you may give that person their first shred of doubt in the teachings that led them to believe as they did.
Racism, to some extent, requires reinforcement. Many people have experiences just like those you listed and just as many or more don't, but what we take from those experiences, how we share those experiences, and why can have the same effect as a seminar on how to feel- both in positive and negative ways. Racism is taught in different ways, but that can be one.
I would speak more on the topic, but that's enough from me, for now.

Well, let's see now. You claim (or slant your post towards) racism yet start your post off with "White people say that black people blame EVERYTHING...."
Sounds racist to me.
Now let's look at some facts.
Crimes against blacks are perpetrated, in the greater MAJORITY, by blacks.
The first racial riot in this country occurred in 1921. The violence was perpetrated by blacks ON BLACKS. (Tulsa riots that killed more than 300).
Not a very good start to a discussion on racism.
Also, racism isn't specifically a "Black" issue and to slant your post to pretend that it is is a bit racist don't you think?
In the late 60s and early 70s, if a middle class, white male competed against an economically disadvantaged black female for a post at a major university scholarship with the exact same sat scores, guess who the prize went to the vast majority of the time.
If I started a television network called "White Entertainment Television" I would be called a racist or white supremist. Yet no one complains about a "Black Entertainment Television" network.
If I attempted to gain non-profit status for my new organization "The National Association for the Advancement of White People" I would be laughed out of Washington D.C.
Yet the NAACP flourishes.
I think you get the point now. Crying racism, as you claim not to be doing, is a coward's way of addressing an issue that has more to do with who YOU are and in what situation you place yourself, than the color of your skin.
And if you're going to use this argument to perpetrate an issue that has gone way to political, then at least add the relevant facts.
What is the crime statistics for your area?
What is the socio-economic census of the area where you live?
How many crimes have been committed in your area in the past week or so?
Would you scream just as loud if the cops decided not to patrol your area and on the night they stopped, YOUR home was broken into or your wife, daughter or girlfriend was raped?
Get the POINT! It's time to grow up and leave childish arguments behind.

It sounds like what you describe is more of a neighborhood problem.
I am not in an area where there is allot of crime. We have mostly just black and white in our community and we don't have that trouble with police because crime rate is low.
I didn't say we never had racism. We have but not to that extent. I have lived in different areas in the past where there was higher crime rates and have been stopped. At the time we were stopped we had black white and Korean all in the car.
Racism still is a problem in America. If I take a broader view out of my town in the surrounding areas I have seen white people make comments about blacks and blacks making comments about whites... racism on both sides.

I'm a short blonde white female - but I used to get pulled over all the time when I had tinted windows.
They couldn't even see me - they profiled my car! They thought I was a redneck teenage boy!
It happens. It's how you deal with it that matters.

When you have police who are not from the community, you have problems.
The solution to the problem you describe is to demand that police live in the community they serve. Will that solution ever happen? No, politicians profit off of having police who are foreign to the communities they are supposed to SERVE.

I'm white and I was pulled over (twice) simply because I had a college sticker in my window...so I must be drunk.
Profiling happens...to EVERYONE It is sound reasoning to make assessments based on statistical profiles.
Newsflash: Crime affects innocent people too. That's why it's bad.

There was no racism involved. The police have a job to do and they did it. You were handcuffed for the officers safety. You were temporarily detained while they conducted an investigation and then you were released.
