1941, the year that they realised that just selling weapons and making vast profits was not the best way to be neutral.
Had it not been for Pearl Harbour then they would have sat on the fence forever.

Japan declared war on the USA as Pearl Harbor was happening 7th December 1941 - depending on the time difference. Germany declared war on the USA the day after Pearl Harbour.

Note that the US did not actively enter the war, the Axis declared war on the the US.

December 1941, although the states had been an active parcipitent in the North Atlantic system attacking U boats and having a couple of ships sunk from March of the same year.

Pearl Harbor occured on 7th December 1941 and FDR declared war on Japan on the 8th December 1941, subsequently Italy and Germany declared war on U.S which marked the commencement of U.S involvement in WW2.

The US declared War on Germany on Dec 11 1941. The first US bombing raid on Germany was at Wilhemshaven on Jan 27 1943. The Germans surrendered at Stalingrad on Feb 2 1943....it takes time for these facts to sink in.
