Rehabilition or jail time?? Should a drug using offender get time or a chance for rehab?? Now im not talking repeat offenders either!! From what ive seen judges tend to wanna incarcerate an individual and not rehablilitate him/her!!Is it money for the county that presses this issue or human rights?? I thing this is wrong personally!! I mean arent we overcrowded as it is?? Statistically we are the #1 incarceration nation!!!

WOW,
I actually like this question\!!!
Please remember best answer...

I like this....

I am a 27 year old business owner who owns 12 franchises and who can do 300 coke a night..... I took psyc with a GED. 8th grade drop out, meth, crack coke, pot, Heroin, You name it.

I am now clean and a single Dad. $150K yr!

Now, I am a single Dad of a 10ry old......
who is drug FREE and NO Criminal Record.
As a nation we really need to help the ones that want help/ My fathers ins. paid 33K for me when I was 15 for rehab. I wish and pray that others were able to gain that knowlege that I did. It did not sink in for years but I am so greatful.... Our system does not realize that some people cover up pain with drugs,,,,, WE have to gather our experience and help others....
THE CORRECT ANSWER IS Rehabilition!

Next question is after we are clean, how do we help others?

Drug crimes are out of control. I think that if it is just a little bit, they should try to rehabilitate. But if there is any amount of drugs on the individual, they should get the death penalty. I hate the fact that so many young people are dying because of all the drugs that are being brought into this country. I think that if someone is found with a large amount of drugs you can safely assume that someone is going to die on account of those drugs and that means that person should get the death penalty. I bet this would stop or at least slow down the drug smuggling.

I have just sat on a grand jury case concerning a young, first offense drug dealer. Some don't realize the importance of the possibility of rehab vs jail time until you hold the future of someones life in your very hands. The defendant was non-violent,had a newborn and I believed deserved a second chance (contrary to other jury members). so I fought vigorously
during deliberations. I was able to sway their way of thinking, as they could see I was serious, and saved this kid years in senseless rotting in jail. He will due his time, and learn his lesson I hope.

Most druggies go to rehab and either drop out or go right back to the drugs - what they REALLY need, is to serve their sentence by donating their time as caretakers for the mentally ill or people with life threatening illnesses caused by their own neglect. Let the druggies SEE what happens when drugs are abused - not just talk about it!!! Rehab costs A LOT of money - and the "success" rate is very low. Druggies do drugs because they like it - that's the hardest thing to stop doing - something you like.

I do agree our justice system does need to come up with alternative solutions to jail for "minor" crimes - - as far as "rights".... you give those up when you choose to disobey the LAW whether you like them or not.

if i remember correctly, 80% of incarcerated people are there because of drug or alcohol-related incidents. rehab is a good thought, but not very effective, obviously. i think a better incentive is higher pay on all jobs, random drug testing on all jobs without reason, and a freeze on price hikes for consumer products. that would make a lot of people i know very happy because then they could afford to buy stuff and would be afraid of losing their jobs if the pay was better than that made in illegal transactions.

Before an arrest, a drug dependent can avail of rehabilitation since it is a voluntary act. In case of arrest, the drug user will be tried in court and the latter has the discretion on what to do if he is found guilty of a crime.

the US is number one in the world for having people in jail, not the nation......
rehab. dont work....its just another avenue for do-gooders to flap there jaw....another way to give people enough rope to hang themselves........
for 1/100 they may have decided theyve had enough, hate it, and they are done.....good timing for re-hab statistics, if they happen to be there....
