Only until you need one.

No.
Again its something that should not be generalized. All those bad jokes about lawyers simply came up because of the fees charged, nothing personal as against the lawyers themselves..
Other professions do require high scale fees too. Its what that makes up to their service which cannot be provided simply be everyone..
Now the lying part?
Come on, u think the Judge was born yesterday to be lied too? so do clients...
Its definitely not lying as far as I can see it!
So if your lawyer wins your case, would you be rejoicing over it or sulking away thinking your lawyer must have lied & deceited to have won??

I find their cost high but like everything else you have to shop around. At times I have had to use a Lawyer and I find if you tell him what the truth is and if he can help you, he will. At least the ones I have had, that doesn't say anything for the crown att. most are a--holes. I know I have had a great exp. with one back a few yrs. ago. It was summer and I had been raped, he did nothing to help, I guess the great waters of ont. was calling to him to go boating.

Only some lawyers. Unfortunately, this is the stereotype of lawyers we see on TV programs and read about in the papers. There are bad apples in every barrel.

I guess it depends which end of the lawyer treatment you are on.
Seriously, lawyers are there to work for their client and can only act on the information that they have. They are expert on lateral thinking, so will look for ways around stumbling blocks which may not always seem fair to 'victims'.

Yes. There is the whole thing about defense, or prosecution, but in the end no matter what side it is, they are there to present an image, a mirage, and the facts are bent to create just that. An illusion of the truth.

Well, to answer this question, one first turns to the bible, somewhere near the back, to the story of the unfortunate couple killed in a tragic accident on their way to be wed. Standing before St Peter at the Golden Gates, contemplating their entry into eternal paradise they queried of St Peter, "Oh Blessed St Peter, If we enter through these holy gates, is it possible that we could be wed?"
St Peter contemplated this, then said, "I shall return with your answer soon...."
After three months , St Peter returned . "Yes, My children, you can be wed"
The couple then queried St Peter, "Eternal Paradise does seem rather a long time. If we are wed, can we later be divorced?"
St Peter looked at them rather crossly and replied," It took me three months to find a priest, where am I going to find a lawyer?"

However I know of one decent lawyer but he is still young the biz has'nt gotten to him YET.

They would bullsh*t their own Mother.
I had a divorce attorney, a defense attorney and a corporate attorney.
All 3 would talk in circles.
They knew exactly how to play the game.
