I come home from school, and I'm supposed to do my homework, but I'm always too tired to do so. Instead, I come home and take a nap, but that "nap" goes on for HOURS. I want to work out, but I can't because I'm always too tired. I don't really understand what is going on?
Sometimes I get a lot of sleep at night, sometimes I get absolutely no sleep, but I'm tired no matter how much sleep I get. Whether it's at night or that nap after I get back from school.

You might be pregnant. Or depressed. Either one of those could explain the lethargy, amongst other things.

Try to balance your sleeping habits. I have the same problem, I'm a junior in high school and sleep is the last thing on my mind. (look at it now, it's 12:32am). The best thing to do is come home, maybe go on an hour excersise, depending on your mood, walk an hour, jog and hour, run an hour, or do anything that a local gym might have in store. When you get back home, take a quick shower if you need one. And do your homework. Go straight to it. Try to take breaks in between assignments to eat or just strech, but make sure you finish so you have a good amount of sleep. If you have any reading assignments, make sure you do those first. The later it gets the less stuff you remember. All of this depends on the time you get home from school, if you want to excersise for only 1/2 an hour that's fine too, as long as you get something. Use your weekends for catching up on sleep you may have missed during the week, but don't try to sleep so late that you can't fall back alseep at night. Make sure you eat right and take vitamins, and drink plenty of water.

Maybe you are not drinking enough water. That will make you feel bad. You need a certain amount of water every day. A lot of people neglect their water intake. The average person needs at least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. If the weather is very warm; you could need more. Give it a try and see if you feel better. It also depends on your body size. If you are a large person; you may need more water. But, there is such a thing of over doing things. So, be realistic.

I believe the sleep patterns are showned to us when we are little. I looked back now and would have wanted consistency.
I believe schools this days are not what they should be. I use to wake up at 5:30am to get to the other city to go to school. My class use to start at 8am it was tough. I use to sleep on spanish class and history class. I hate the fact that now I'm seeing the result of sleep depravation. I'm right now awake, I have insomnia and I'm only 23. I have difficulty waking up to go to the university. Even though this happens, I always get to the class.

oh my gosh, this one have so many answers but I will stick with a few that I have experienced. You could have a thyroid problem (check with your doc), any depression , loss of love one, or sudden life change? mercury poisoning from your dental amalgam? anemic? maybe get a blood test for red blood cell count? If your medical doctor can't help you, try an alternative medicine doctor. I know many people that have their mercury amalgam remove had their whole life and health change. Good luck, hope you will find the help you need.

You should be sleeping every night, around 7-8 hours. If this isn't the case, your body is always going to feel "behind". Do what you can to get restful sleep.

malnutrition, lack of exercise which could help your body deal with stress. stress itself can be draining. and oh, sometimes, it's all in the mind. maybe you don't want to study that's why you find reasons not being able to do your tasks. It's what we call psychosomatic disorder.. your body manifests what you are thinking. you can also have your blood electrolytes checked, hypokalemia or low potassium can make you feel weak and lethargic.

Consult your doctor.

You'll most likely need blood work done. Sounds as though you could be borderline, or actually diabetic.

My Suggestion: ensure that you're eating a well-balanced diet and try to get regular rest and exercise.

The doc will know best. =)

Take a multi-vitamin daily. Plus take a B-vitamin complex of 100mg daily. You can take the B-vitamin complex tablet a couple of times a day.
