If you don't like to make your own decisions, like an ordered life, are happy lifting weights and don't miss the companionship of the opposite sex, I suppose it can be much like summer camp or being in the army. The major difference is that summer camp ends with the end of summer and one gets furloughs from the army.
If you think you might like it, be careful to try it for a short period of time lest you make an enormous mistake. It also greatly depends on what kind of prison ( jail is more a temporary place, actually ) you are in with some Federal prisons geared to white collar criminals being called "Club Fed". Some maximum security prisons, on the other hand, are quite grim places where domination is the major game in the institution and, if you're not the biggest, baddest, meanest guy in it, you're likely to have a bad time.

yeah for a man who likes men, nothing is free in jail.I drop alot of people off there.your freedom is the best thing that you can have.you don't want to live by another man's rule, you don't want to have anybody tell you light's out when you know it's only ten o''clock, when you are hungry, you can walk to your own refridge and grab what you like or feel you want, there you can't,when you are on the phone with someone, you don't want to have to hang up because your lover that made you /or her /or him your personal slave gave a time limit.na be freee. jail is a lie that's what they don't tell you,.visit a jail in real life and not watch t.v,they make it seem so good.no commoncery, no eat late at night....no booty call,"I'm sorry yeah it's a booty call, only with the man your are sharing your cell with.cell mate buddies(his and his seat)until they turn you into a her.and oh yes if you would like tweenkies, cupcake,or peaches for your new name "try it", there it's so many fruit cakes, there you have one sweeeeeeeet name.might not be cupcakes may be pumpkin or momma.

Ive never been locked up but my uncle was in state for 7 years for cocaine trafficking. He said personally you are an animal and have to act "Crazy"or get your A** beat!! Once you are in ,your subject to CO beatings or inmate beatings if they feel you are a weaker person!! Also you have anal cavity searches for drugs and you have no privacy!! Not to mention the food is loaded with starch to make you feel full but has no flavor!! Your in lock down 23 hours usually!! No contact with the real world except watching TV from your bar cell block with which whatever the CO"s wanna watch!! You play cards, write letters and dream of freedom from an iron cold cell and a bed with a 3 inch mattress!! You do whatever the CO's say, go to the bathroom when asked permission, are often denied medical care, and basically controlled by the Penal system! They dont tell you about your time status either!! Its not a fun time!! Why would you think its fun?? Its basically a denial of all freedoms that we take for granted on the outside!! Do yourself a favor and dont get locked up!!

If you enjoy the following you'll love jail-
a regimented life that is scheduled out for you (from breakfast at 6am to lights out)
horrible jail food, being strip searched regularly, surrounded by mostly uneducated people, no privacy, no opposite sex, and a lot of other liberties you take for grantid, you might just enjoy jail.
oh and for the females did I mention no tampons?

I think there's more to the place than the things you describe, such as, most people who go to jail are mean or violent. Then there are jails full of cockroaches. Also most have bad food and they serve very little of it at the meal.
Of course, the low-life type human would reach his goal of being the smartest criminal behind bars. For him it would be a picnic.
I don't recommend it. I've known several people who have spent time there and so far I haven't heard anything that would ease my mind about going there.

yes it does we hae to protect some of their rights which is wrong they should have little stuff to see and do. they are not in there for fun but sure does seem that way that is why the gangs are conducting business from inside the compounds also. this all should be stopped and now.but who wants to cause it benefits alot even the jailers are in on it most of the time. sad case of affairs.

i used to think in a similar way about jail, and i got mixed in a bad crowd when i wa younger and a few of my friends ended up there, it's not all it's cracked up to be, the people in the so-called 'social-club' all come from different backgrounds of drug-abuse, violence, and other crimes, and when you get out of jail, you know a lot more about crime than before you went in, i've seen people who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, going to jail and coming out totallly different people. some people become so dependant on their life behind bars, they are incapable of living outside their jail cell....and personally, ilike my freedom too much, and i have gotten out of the old crowd, and i am now married, with a great job, and looking at buying my first home and having children, these are things that my old friends will never get the privilege of enjoying, unfortunately for them.

Your Heads messed up if you'll start thinking its a Country Club and the inmate gets a 24 L Membership
with a stuido apartment TV room and three meals a day.
and lives on social class status.
you must be thinking of your local county jail.
where every one may know some one thats locked up.
Its No Joke... 4 real. >:()

You are a f--king idiot! I have been there and it is no fun. Everyone is looking to take advantage of you, people are getting assaulted and raped constantly, and you are sleeping on a board basically every night with a bright light glaring directly in your eyes. On top of that you get to shower with many other guys- some of whom want to make you their girlfriend, you have to endure the fun of random strip searches, and you are isolated from all family and friends. Don't joke about how "fun" prison can be- it's no joke at all and much worse than alot of these tv documentaries make it out to be.

You forgot the part about not being able to walk out the door. In addition, has it occurred to you that the people you saw were probably under strict instructions to "behave or else" while the TV crews were there?
Get real.
