I mean, if they both have children, are over 35, don't want more kids...

My kids need a stepfather, and I'd like a good companion.

Actually, I'm talking generally. I don't have a bf right now; I'm dating online and have several men I go out with. No one stands out at the moment.

If a man wants the same thing as you described above, he will want to get married.

Men usually marry to have steady sex. If theyre already getting all the benefits of marriage they have no reason to marry.
I have known many divorced women or single women with kids who claim they want a father for their kids but then when the new husband or boyfriend disciplines them the mother throws a fit and tells him not to cuz theyre not his kids. So they say they want one thing but when they get it they are afraid to let go and give the man any control. So you shouldnt marry anyone you do not completely trust with your children including discipline. That is why so many men stay away from women with kids.
Make sure he is marrying you because he loves all of you and your kids and you all want to be one family together. And hold off on the sex, itll just make him want you more and if he doesnt then he was never serious about marrying you anyway.

Every man is different, but they have to be having fun and yes family isn't always fun thats why you need special you time without kids but it all comes down to th relationship really, if they love you and the relationship then they'll want to marry you but you can only be yourself to find someone you'll be happy with

I think loneliness would play a major role.If the person you want to marry is equally needing a life patner he will surely accept your proposal. So you make him feel that he is a lonely man and should have a life patner and also that no one would be an ideal patner except for you.

The woman emotionally and sexually pressuring the man into it. Trust me, whether its the old bio clock ticking or all her friends getting married....it's all the same...women just seem to need getting married more than men.
BTW - kids hate stepfathers.
Get them closer to their real father.

The most important element is love. He has to love you and you have to love him. Having kids is not the only reason people get married.

there is Love and Commitment. I prefer commitment because love will just fade away sooner or later and it is scary for me...
