My fiancee has always passed stools and had a little blood in them. Just now, he passed a HUGE stool, but it was light greenish/brown and there was a lot of blood in the toilet. Like all the water was red. I know that there was blood because the stool was so big, but is that dangerous, or should he just watch what he eats? thanks!

There are multiple reasons for bloody stools. Either way, you need to get him to a doctor. The sooner the better.

Some possibilities are:

Hemorrhoids: not a serious condition medically, but still
uncomfortable.

Colon cancer: very serious, obviously, but also not too likely.
If he's below 50, he's almost definitely safe from this one.

Ulcerative colitis (UC): inflammation of the large intestine
coupled with ulcers in the colon. The ulcers cause the
bleeding, while the swelling causes the diarrhea
(assuming he has diarrhea). Not nearly as urgent as
colon cancer, but he should see a doctor as soon as
possible. For many people, a simple prescription of
Asacol helps them handle it with few problems.

Crohn's Disease: very similar to UC but more serious. Some
severe cases require removal of part or all of the colon.
This is more rare, however.

I hope I could help. My 17-year-old brother has had Ulcerative Colitis since he was 15. Now that he's on medications and is avoiding certain foods, he rarely has significant problems.
Hey, if a 15-year-old can handle the disease and the meds it requires, it should be smooth sailing after a couple trips to the doctor.

I have had the unpleasant experience of passing blood in my stool and in all places I had the problem, I was deployed to Iraq!

So your description described two problems. One, if you pass a huge stool he more than likely tore something in the lower intestine and it shouldn't be a problem, but if it continues it maybe hemroids.

The second and more concerning problem is the color of his stool. The color described hints that their maybe a problem in the stomach or the small intestine, especially if the stool smells more foul than normal. This of coarse can only be answered by a Gastrointestinal (GI) doctor.

Judging by what you described I would pay a visit to an emergency room as soon as you can, there should be a GI on duty there if it's a major hospital.

Yes. It could be dangerous.

He needs to see a doctor. It may be an ulcer or it may be some rupturing due to the size of his stool.

A small amount of blood in the stool may or may not be a problem, but a lot of blood is a sign of something seriously wrong. Either way he is losing blood he shouldn't lose.

He needs to get it checked out, and I would suggest a trip to the doctor in the morning if he can get in.

Red blood in the toilet usually isn't too bad, it probably needs to be checked by a Doctor though. If it was black and has a consistency of tar, that is cause for immediate concern.
Lots of water and a high fiber diet should help and a sitz bath is good for that too, every day.

Huge, hard stools can cause a rip in the anus that bleeds. A doctor can give him medication to heal the rip. It also sounds like he needs to do something about his constipation by increasing his intake of fruits and vegetables and fiber, or he needs to buy a fiber supplement like Citrucel or Metamucil to take everyday.

It might be a little thing like piles,or a big thing like cancer; whichever it is the sooner it is treated the better. Don't delay.

He should go see his PCP or a G.I. doctor.
It could be a lot of things from cancer to crohn's or a lot of different things.
To be safe just get it checked out.
